About
Punggi is one of Korea's most storied ginseng regions, and its festival lands in October when the root's nutrients peak. The program leans into health: ginseng-cuisine tastings, ginseng-peeling contests, and wellness exhibitions, plus ritual reenactments — the founding-site rite, Governor Ju Se-bung's procession (the 16th-century official credited with starting cultivation here), and the great ginseng ceremony. Fresh roots, red ginseng, and processed goods sell at grower prices. Free entry, 10:00–20:00.
