The grand ancestral rite for Joseon's kings and queens at Jongmyo shrine — UNESCO-listed both as architecture and as living ritual, with its solemn court music and line dances performed as they were for 500 years. Held the first Sunday of May; one of the most profound spectacles in Korea, and free.
