About

In the Joseon era, the beacon mound on Namsan was the final relay point of a nationwide signal-fire network that carried news to the capital. This Seoul city program brings that system back to life: watch the beacon-lighting ceremony with historical commentary at the Namsan beacon site, join the daily noon bell-ringing at Bosingak Pavilion, and catch samulnori percussion and traditional martial-arts demonstrations at the Palgakjeong plaza by N Seoul Tower. Day programs let visitors try the night-watch and beacon-keeper roles themselves.
