Three days marking the 400th anniversary of the fortress walls of Namhansanseong — the UNESCO-listed mountain fortress where a Joseon king withstood siege in 1636. Gwangju City's flagship festival mixes traditional and contemporary stage performances with history experience programs, participatory events, and a hands-on art market inside the provincial park. Free; the fortress wall walk itself, ringed with autumn forest, is reason enough to come.
