About
A history festival commemorating the Battle of Myeongnyang (1597), when Admiral Yi Sun-sin's 13 ships defeated a vastly larger Japanese fleet in the roaring strait of Uldolmok. Jointly held by Jindo and Haenam counties on both shores of the actual strait, the festival's centerpiece is a multimedia naval-battle reenactment blending ICT effects with a marine parade, plus a departure parade, regional performances, nightscape lighting, and hands-on history programs. One of the most dramatic settings of any Korean festival — the tidal current that won the battle still races under the Jindo Bridge.
