On the first Saturday of each month from April to November, Gwangju closes Geumnam-ro — the city's most symbolic downtown boulevard — to cars. The name Geotjaing blends the local dialect for 'let's walk' with '-ing'. The street fills with walkers, pop-up culture programs, and performances, part of the city's push toward transit, cycling, and walking. A good date to aim for if you want to see downtown Gwangju at its liveliest.
